Businessman shows children the world

Ten years ago the project “Show children the world” was founded to encourage social and cultural interaction between young people from north west Russia above the Arctic Circle and Newry. Over the year developments such as a cooperation agreement between Newry and Mourne Council and Kirovsk Municipality in the Murnamisk region took place. An environmental competition fro young people sponsored by FM Environmental Ltd is now a major event each year. On St Patrick’s Day next Eamonn Fitzpatrick co founder of Show Children the World will present the Book of Newry to School No 7 at a special gathering of staff and pupils. The book is signed by the author Michael McKeown of Crash Services will take pride of place in the school classroom know as the ‘Irish Room.’ This will be followed by a talk by Eamonn on the life of St Patrick in Ireland. Later pupils will perform Irish and local song and dance in celebration. Through this project School No 7 has developed strong connections with Newry with many visits from teachers and pupils. While in Kirovsk Eamonn Fitzpatrick will give a business workshop to about 100 business students from the area and conduct a half day seminar for local business people.
