Newry Chamber hosted a Breakfast Briefing to celebrate International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic and cultural achievements of women across the globe. Our guest speakers on the day included, Emma Marmion – HR Director, Prestige HR and Siobhán Connolly nee Reel – Owner & Director, Deli Lites.
Emma Marmion is one of the founding Directors of Prestige HR, recognised by CIPD as one of the top 5 HR and training consultancies in Northern Ireland and has HR teams in Belfast, Newry, Dundalk and Dublin. Emma is a native of Newry and an active member of the local newry community. She was appointed Vice President of Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade in 2017 and is the Vice Chair of Women’s Aid Armagh Down. Emma is known nationally as a positive and motivating young entrepreneur and professional and is a regular speaker on motivation, leadership and people management topics.
Siobhán Connolly nee Reel started Deli Lites as a family business in 1994 with all 5 sisters being involved from its inception and has went from strength to strength during that time. It will celebrate 25 years in business in 2019 and includes 5 stores as well as a wholesale factory. The business continually updates, innovates and explores new ideas and markets to create new opportunities. Siobhán has recently ventured into the world of fashion with the creation of Cherrypic in 2016, a unique shoe boutique located on Newry’s Bridge Street.
Our attendees were enlightened by Emma and Siobhan on both their business journeys and life experiences. They underlined the importance of women having a voice and to use their voice to make a difference.
