Newry Style City 2013 was rounded up in Style with Fashion Afternoon Tea

Newry made its mark on Northern Ireland’s style map by welcoming a weekend of chic events from 18th to 21st April which celebrated all that is fashionable and glamorous about the city.

The festival of events included SRC Southern Regional College – Style Secrets and Retailers Master Class with Marietta Doran in Bellini’s.

The Return of the much loved ‘Newry’s Most Stylish’ Awards. This glitzy awards ceremony hosted by Connor Philips was held in the Vault Nightclub at the Bank Bar on Friday 19th April and recognised Newry’s key style ambassadors – ladies and men from around the city who always look amazing and effortless. The 8 categories covered male and females in all age groups along with a new category Most Stylish Yummy Mummy and the competition was hot!

The Fashion Afternoon Tea show boasts the spring and summer trends from local boutiques and retailers including Berling Boutique, Elite Hats, Jack Murphy Jeweller, Silk, JV Kelly, Shoes from Cahill Bros and Designer Glasses from McAdorey Opticians.

The Show was kicked off with Flower Power Trend followed by structure skirting and Monochrome. Those lucky enough to snap up one of the hottest tickets in town were treated to a Drinks Reception, Afternoon Tea and left with a fabulous goodie bag and prizes  in hand.

Following on, Newry continued to ooze style and glamour as it hosted various fringe events throughout the weekend in venues such as The Buttercrane, The Quays, Jack Murphy’s Jewellers, Azizi Lingerie, McEvoys Drapery, McKeevers Chemist, St John Bosco Golden Jubilee Fashion Show in Bellini’s, The Funhouse and Many More.

Colleen Dowdall, Acting Chief Executive of Newry Chamber of Trade and Commerce, the organisation behind the event said, “This is the third year of Newry Style City and it will continue to grow each year. We had significant support from many organisations including, Newry & Mourne District Council, Newry City Centre Management, The Quays, The Buttercrane, The Bank Bar, The Canal Court, Bellini’s, Sugahfix.com, Impact Sales Solutions, All 3 Studio, Cotton tree Photography, Southern Regional College, Stakeholder, Jack Murphy Jewellers, Cahill Shoes, Berling, McEvoy’s, Silk, JV Kelly Menswear, McAdorey Opticians, McCaul Signs as well as Amanda Rafferty Style Coach and Parkergreen International. Without this support we couldn’t have possibly run an event on this scale.  We would also like to thank all those sponsored the prizes for the Most Stylish Awards and Fashion Afternoon Tea and involved in organising or hosting events’
