Newry man Gary McKeown has been elected as the new Northern Ireland Chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). With almost a decades experience in communications Gary brings with him a record of leadership and innovation in the profession. He is also the longest serving member of the CIPR’s Northern Ireland Committee. Gary was voted in as the chair at the group’s AGM held at Clifton House Belfast and replaces public relations executive for Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland Gillian Shields. Commenting on his new role Gary McKeown said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected Chair of the CIPR in Northern Ireland. With more than 300 members the CIPR here is driving forward standards of professionalism, encouraging young people to think about PR as a job and working with existing practitioners to help them develop their skills to meet the challenges of an ever changing media environment.
