Sculptures for Hill Street

The Elk, Navvy and Tower of Imagination sculptures which were erected in the district last year look set to be joined by four new sculptures in the city in the coming months. Early Years arts organisation Sticky Fingers plans to erect four permanent pieces on Hill Street in a project that looks set to complement the upcoming £1.8m Hill Street environmental improvement scheme. Sticky has secured £37,000 worth of funding from the Arts Council and will shortly appoint four artists to work with local children in the development of the art work. Programme Manager Elaine Cronin told the Reporter: “A call has gone out to artists and he deadline is January 16. The project will be completed in March or April. We like to get the community involved and hundreds of local children will have an input.
