Incredible crowds yesterday at the Southern Regional College BIG Apprenticeship Event in their Newry Campus and we were delighted to see some of our members in attendance.
Edwina Flynn, President of Newry Chamber said:
“Improving and investing in the skills of our young people is a key priority for Newry Chamber and we are passionate about highlighting the fantastic career pathways on offer within so many of our ambitious, innovative and dynamic businesses, who call the Greater Newry Area home.”
“As a Chamber, we believe it is crucial for students, parents and teachers to recognise that the traditional route of attending University, in order to obtain a highly skilled, well paid job, is not the only option now available to students.”
“The SRC plays a crucial role in developing the skills of our young people to meet the recruitment needs of our local businesses.”
“Through their Apprenticeship and Higher Level Apprenticeship programmes, they have a very successful track record in developing local talent and in securing long-term employment and career opportunities for their students.”
“At the end of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will not only have their qualifications but more importantly, they will also have the experience of working day-to-day on the ground within a business, over a number of years, giving them a head start in the world of work.”
“The BIG Apprenticeship Event has grown year on year and we are very proud to have played a small part in this success story. We have supported this fantastic event for a number of years now and we look forward to continuing to do so for many more years to come.”
