For the fourth consecutive year the Southern Trust’s acute hospital network – Craigavon and Daisy Hill – have been recognised as one of the UK’s Top Hospitals. Achievements in healthcare quality, improvement and performance by acute sector organisations are recognised by the National CHKS Top Ten Hospitals Programme. In additions to being placed in teh Top 40 Hospitals this year, the Southern Trust was also shortlisted for the first time ever for the CHKS National Data Quality Improvement Award. The Southern Health and Social Care Trust Chair Roberta Brownlee congratulated staff on the award: “Each year in our very busy hospitals there are approximately 370,000 outpatient appointments, 117,000 Emergency Department attendances, 56,000 inpatient admissions and over 6,000 births. While managing over half a million patient contacts a year our staff are committed to delivering a very high standard of care every day for every patient. We like patients and clients to be the centre of of all that we do and pay particular attention to listening and learning from service users so that we are continuously improving their experience,” she continued. “We are committed to promoting a culture of excellence, within the Southern Trust. and this recognition once again reassures all our patients carers and staff that their hospital is amongst the best in the UK. I would like to pay tribute to every member of staff working in our hospital who has played an important role in achieving the award and I am delighted that their commitment and dedication has been rewarded in this way. The Managing Director of CHKS Jason Harries said: “These awards recognise outstanding performance in those areas which we believe are critical to delivering good patient care. We are delighted that the Southern Health and Social Care Trust is one of our Top Hospitals 2015.”
