Businesses urged to showcase achievements

Prominent figures in the business community are urging companies in the Newry area to make the most of their achievements this year by participating in a leading business initiative. Local companies have been encouraged to enter the Ulster Bank’s Business Achievers Awards which are supported by InterTradeIreland and Invest Northern Ireland as a way of celebrating their accomplishments. The Ulster Bank’s Business Achiever’s Award which have been celebrating local businesses for 18 years recognise business success irrespective of offering, size sector or location. Damian Milligan, Head of Ulster Bank’s Newry Business Centre said the awards provided an excellent opportunity to businesses to show what they can do. “I have been extremely encouraged by the many good businesses in the local area working hard to develop their products, services and markets often in challenging circumstances,” he said. There are many great stories of business achievement to be told and I hope the companies to make the most of them by entering the awards.” Liam Nellis, Chief Executive of InterTradeIreland said he was encouraged by the level of innovation being displayed by small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). “SMEs are the life blood of the economy and are key to its recovery,” he said. These awards will highlight the achievements of successful local SMEs and hopefully will inspire other local businesses to take advantage of the opportunities available across the island.” Throughout each stage of the competition, companies will be judged on a variety of merits including financial performance, company milestones and achievements, future strategy for the business and development of innovative products and services.
